What’s In My Makeup Bag | Autumn Edition

September 14, 2016
Makeup is one of those things that is down to personal preference; there are so many cosmetics out there varying in prices, but you’re always told that the more expensive, the better quality it is. However,  please, don’t believe that utter crap. I have gone through a fair few products and have gathered a few favourites over the past year, some from a drug store and some of the well-known brands.
It’s difficult to keep up with the latest makeup trend, and your bank balance never turns out well (we’ve all been there, right?!). So, Lovelies here is my more affordable everyday makeup bag of this Autumn.

“Just wing it, life, eyeliner, everything!” – Anon

1 – DHC Perfect Pro Mascara

As mentioned in my previous DHC review, this mascara is perfect for long, natural lashes that won’t clump. The wand is incredibly tiny and manages to get every single lash, doubling the length. I feel like this mascara really makes my eyes look refreshed which is perfect for these dark mornings when you’ve dragged yourself out of bed!

2- Collection Contour Kit

Now, I don’t use the contour of this kit because I feel like it’s more of a bronzer and it doesn’t work as well as I’d hoped. But the highlight? Well, damn girl! This is the best highlighter I’ve ever used, better than ones such as High Beam and for £3.99, it’s a dream come true. If you love a bit of statement sparkle on those cheekbones, then you’re in luck. This highlight blends incredibly well with my blush and lasts ALL day, I promise! The shimmer is the perfect amount is very pigmented, a simple, effortless product for those rushed wintery mornings! Forget big brands; this is the sh*t.

3 – Maybelline Master Contour V-Stick

I got given this product about a month ago and had been using it most days with great results. The consistency is creamy, and it glides effortlessly onto your face. The stick makes life so much easier, as you can just draw it onto your face, no sponge or brush required. I’d recommend only using it on the areas you want to define (darker shade being the cheekbones and the highlight being above the cheekbones and on the nose) it can become time-consuming trying to blend it out but work at it, and you’ll be impressed with the outcome! The colour is buildable and made for any skin tone; I’d definitely buy this product again, but it will last a lifetime. It even got voted best contour product in Fabulous Magazine!

4 – Benefit’s Ka-Brow!

If anything, I’ve raved about this product way too much, but it’s hard not to when it’s a must-have! (You can find my Benefit Brow post here to find the full review.) As you know, Benefit launched their sparkly new brow products in June and Ka-Brow! is my ultimate favourite, it’s a dip gel brow and comes with a little brush in the lid which makes it so travel-friendly. The product is rich and buildable; a little will go a long way which means the pot will last forever. My brows come out looking natural every time, and it lasts for 24 hours. Brows will be on fleek!

5 – Burt’s Bee’s Tinted Lip Balm

A must-have in my makeup bag for this Autumn. It’s that time of year for sensitive lips and ugly cracks! Lipsticks can be quite harsh for my lips so I love to switch it up a little with a tinted lip balm, Burt’s Bees are always number one when it comes to moisturising, and this one, in particular, adds a splash of colour to complete your makeup look.

6 – Benefit’s Hello Flawless Foundation

The cooler months always mean that you’re as white as a ghost which is why Benefit’s foundation is THE ONE. Specifically matched to your skin tone with a slight warmer hint that doesn’t make you orange means you can have that natural looking glow which makes you look healthier and sun kissed. Foundation lines aren’t a problem with this foundation either, so get blending, girl. Make sure you set Hello Flawless with a powder as it can become quite tacky, a translucent powder will be your best friend, trust me.
So what product will be your saviour this Autumn?
Love,
Hope x
