It’s safe to say that it’s officially winter. Snow is falling in parts of the UK; the heating is put on full blast, and it’s depressingly dark by 4 pm. No matter how much I despise winter, I will always be in love with the fashion, the chunky knits, heeled boots and tartan scarves are must-haves and my wardrobe is always bursting at the seams.
Recently, I received a jumper from Petit Bateau who are a family clothing company which provide high-quality clothing and the French style we all love. Think stripes, military buttons and fisherman jackets. This unique company takes a little spin on simple tradition, providing you with the sweetest baby grows and the most trendy basics for the whole family.
I have the Women’s High Neck Sweater in Navy which is the perfect winter warmer. The turtle neck style pretty much sold it to me, and the adorable bell buttons won me over as I’m a lover of small detail. The sweater features contrasting materials due to a ribbed body and then at the cuffs of the sleeves there is a heavy elastic jersey which features Petit Bateau’s classy sailor stripe (of course!). It’s a superb idea having elasticated sleeves because we’ve all dipped our sleeves in the washing up water and wanted to cry because it’s soaked!
Personally, for me the sizing was a little big, I’m usually a small but had to get an extra small, but it’s good that the sizing isn’t tiny and I love an oversized jumper! The material isn’t the kind that would catch so you know that you’re safe, I’m sure you’ve had a favourite jumper that has unfortunately unravelled, and it’s felt like the end of the world. The copper buttons have an anchor engraved which definitely gives you the sailor feel, and it strangely makes you feel classy. You can adjust these buttons and not wear the turtle neck but trust me, high necks win every time.
I’d team this elegant knit (RRP £72.50) with skinny jeans, some Chelsea boots and a tote. Petit Bateau also have lightweight jackets and raincoats so you can survive through this winter. If you’re looking for a little one, then the dungarees will make your heart melt, and you can have little sailors running around everywhere.
What’s your favourite look this season?
