The Building Burdens: Do You Have Too Much Responsibility?

We all get that overwhelming feeling sometimes when life just gets too much; you feel like you’re being pulled back and forth between all of the different stresses in your life. When you are young and sprightly people think you can handle anything that life throws at you. You feel an underlying pressure to be great at everything from family life to your education. Everybody is allowed to feel stressed about these things, so try and take the burdens away from yourself when you can. Learn to relinquish responsibility and try to help yourself more. You can only help other people if you’re feeling in control and content with your own life.

Family Pressures

Mum wants you to babysit your little sister. Your brother needs help with his homework. Your granny needs some milk from the shop. You feel this overwhelming sensation and you can’t possibly help with everything that they are asking for. Your parents will be able to help you if you’re feeling stressed with your home life as there are many options you can explore together. Perhaps your siblings need a tutor to help with their homework or your grandparents would benefit from being in a care home. If you’re being relied on too much, don’t be afraid to speak out and seek support when you need it.

Learning Anxieties

Your education is an aspect of your life which instantly overwhelms you. You have a number of exams to revise for, your homework is piling up and you have a range of sporting events that you’re expected to be a part of. When college, school or university gets on top of you it is totally okay to ask for help. Learning to manage your time and say no to things is part of growing up. If you feel that you can’t handle those extra pressures then you simply don’t need to take them on. Get yourself organized with a diary and put your studies first. If you find you have time for extra activities then you can factor these in later. Learning to balance your educational tasks is not easy, but you will be able to get through it.

Relationship Worries

Your boyfriend is being distant and your best friend doesn’t seem herself. As well as your home life and school work you have to keep all of your relationships ticking along smoothly. Chances are that they are feeling just as stressed out as you so make sure you talk to them. Relationships and friendships will only be successful if you communicate effectively, so talk about your feelings, open up and share your problems with each other.

Try to stop worrying about the small things in your life and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. You are too young to be carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders, so learn to enjoy each day instead of wearing yourself too thin. The people who love you will be there to support you, so start reaching out for help and stop feeling the pressure.
