DHC Beauty Haul

May 17, 2016
We all love a beauty review and recently I was sent a bundle of skin care and makeup which I adore. I love trying out new products and will give almost anything a go. Who doesn’t love a selection of cosmetics after all? This company, in particular, is called DHC which you may have seen on my Face Care Routine post, they’re a Japanese company which I’d never heard of before and they’re extremely underrated.

Here’s a little bit of background information for you. DHC stands for “Daigaku Honyaku Center,” and it originally was an educational translation company in Japan. After discovering an exceptional grade of olive oil from the Núñez de Prado groves in Spain, DHC learnt about the positive effects it has on skin and overall health. From then on, they evolved into a health and beauty collection; Japan’s number one direct skin care company. Japanese products based on Spanish olive oil, you really can’t get any more rare than that!

DHC generously sent me many products which I was overjoyed with. I received eyeliner, mascara, toner, moisturiser and cotton buds so let’s get stuck in!

First of all, I tested out my DHC Liquid Eyeliner and DHC Mascara Perfect Pro Double Protection. I’m a big fan of eye makeup and love a good mascara so I couldn’t wait to apply them. They are packed in little boxes so they stay protected and the packaging is simple but appealing. I used my eyeliner first, and it looks beautiful. The tip is so fine and it runs across my eyelid perfectly, no pulling or uneven patches. It provides a bold definition with jet black colouring which is ideal for a statement. You can either build this liner up to create a more dramatic look or do a thin line for everyday makeup. This eyeliner, in particular, has a slight shine to it but this isn’t a problem as it isn’t extremely noticeable (especially after using mascara); usually, I prefer a matte finish. The best part about this liner is that it’s effortless, I’m not a pro in the eyeliner area and do tend to make mistakes a lot, however with my Olive Virgin Oil Swabs, I can quickly fix any errors! Eyeliner is one of those things that takes a lot of practice and you have to be confident in it for it to go correctly, this is fantastic for beginners.

Afterwards, I applied my mascara; I love bold lashes so mascara is crucial in my makeup bag. The brush is surprisingly fine which makes my lashes not clump together, a real pro in my opinion! I found that it makes my lashes look a lot longer and it doesn’t feel heavy on the eyes, it even manages to cover every single lash. I’ve tried so many mascaras in the past and this is by far one of the best ones on the market. Even the removal of it is brilliant; it comes off straight away and I don’t get the panda eye effect, good things do come in small packages after all! Check the results out below!

Next, we go to skin care, now I’ve already spoken about this in my Face Care Routine post but will recap your mind! I have the DHC Beauty Lift Lotion, which is a toner that I apply straight after the shower. It’s a very silky watery substance which feels refreshing on my skin. It removes any extra oils and bacteria I have on my face, which means that I will have no excess makeup on my face, preventing spots. Good news right? My skin feels so much firmer and nourished, I simply wait for it to dry and then add my next product over the top; my DHC Beauty Lift Milk. I dab this product all over my face and then rub it in (as you can see below!). This moisturiser is so lightweight, yet hydrates incredibly. I hate the feel of tacky moisturisers that won’t sink into my skin and with combination skin I need something with balance. Well, girls, this is the one for you! It sinks straight into my skin and doesn’t feel greasy, just smooth; you can even use it before applying makeup. Enriched with oat kernel extract, it helps soothe your skin and provides an antioxidant-rich protectant. This is a dream come true.

Overall these products are fantastic and affordable, (ranging from £14.50 to £34.00) if you want to try something unique then I’d honestly recommend DHC. Who doesn’t want cute packaging and perfect lashes? No one. The only downfall is that the eyeliner can be a pain to get off, (is that even a bad thing, though?) at least you can look made up when you go to bed! Find them here.

I’d love to hear your thoughts below, have any of you ever tried this brand before? Please do let me know!
