Brace Your Skin, Winter Is Coming | Guest Post

November 20, 2016
As far as I’m concerned, Australia is the place to be. With its phenomenal climate, the access to a beautiful pallet of flora and fauna and the gorgeous beaches, you have it all in one place. Even winters aren’t as harsh as they are in the rest of the world! Sure, you may have a koala hop onto your truck from time to time. But hey, it’s all perks of the trade.

Our gorgeous Land Down Under is where you go (and stay) to get that sun-kissed and beach-ready look everyone envies; all things there are laid back and chill, and you can dominate the beaches uninterrupted. With their sea-salt hair and glowing skin, Australian women perfectly capture the idyllic summer beauty and the best part? They can look this way the whole year round!

Almost all Aussie women are little natural health gurus. They adore their beauty products chemically uninterrupted and will always take an extra step for a healthy, organic product. Personally, I adore my DIYs (and I’m very proud of them) and I swear by them! So I figured why not share them with the rest of you ladies? I’m gathering up a few of my favourite products that will, hopefully, be as fruitful to you as they are to me. Here we go:

Don’t go all “eeew” before you try it! Listen, the best thing to use on your face as a natural exfoliate is a combination of yoghurt and sea salt; your skin will be left smooth and soft, without any unpleasant smell. An added plus to the whole thing is that yoghurt contains a complex of probiotics, which can also help put your acne problem. An added bonus? Skin free of any hyperpigmentation (dark) spots! It must be something about yoghurt and salt oxidation; I wouldn’t know – but I love it!

Trick #2 Thicken hair with apple cider vinegar

The best way to give thickness back to your hair (yes, we all tend to lose billions of strands as we age) is to use apple cider in between your shampoo and conditioner. Believe it or not but vinegar will keep the hair shiny and will balance the pH levels of the scalp. Awesome, right?

Trick #3 Nurture lips with beetroot

I bet this one never crossed your mind, right? I know! I accidentally discovered it and I’ve been using it ever since. Just slice up beetroot and apply it to your lips and cheeks for a flush of colour. You’ll look super healthy, blushed and cute.

Trick #4 Treat acne with the unexpected

I hate breakouts, and luckily I don’t often get them often, but when I do, they’re a true pain! Luckily, there’s a solution. Basil oil works well for clearing up pimples, and it works like a charm! Just apply some on the breakout and voila! If you’ve got a bad case of acne which can’t really be solved with basil oil, turn to some of the organic products on the market. Personally, I prefer browsing through cosmetics online than going around, shopping for products, this way I’ve got it all on display and I can concentrate to read labels and decide.
No, not on your pizza, but the hair! Combat a greenish tint that comes from chlorine with a ketchup wash and keep your hair shiny and healthy. Another amazing thing is to mix the “bicarb soda” (i.e. baking soda) with a cleansing shampoo. The green out of blonde hair is going to be removed in an instant.

Trick #6 Coconut Oil bliss

Use coconut oil with everything! It helps with hair growth, hair repair, teeth whitening; it’s good for cooking and baking, virtually anything and everything. And I love the smell!

Ladies, I hope I helped! Let me know which of my DIY products you’ve tried – I’d love for you to share the experience!

Love,
Mia x
