A-Okay For The A-Line Skirt

January 21, 2017

Skirts, thermal tights, boots and the perfect winter coat. The only reason to love this season. With thanks to the January sales, I’ve managed to grab a couple of A-lines which I’m absolutely in love with from the likes of River Island, Topshop and Dorothy Perkins! If you’re into tartan, denim and velvet, then keep reading on because these fabrics are a must for your wardrobe in 2017. Here is your outfit of the day, Hope style.

The 70’s style

Introducing all things retro with this 70’s number. Bell sleeves are all the go at the moment, and although this emerald green is a little out of my comfort zone, it works beautifully with an A-line. The relaxed, slightly baggy fit, means that the blouse is extremely comfortable and light-weight which makes it perfect for shopping trips or even college. I love how the lace panels are inserted in all of the right places and flow to the flared sleeves.  Apart from dipping the sleeves in all of my food and makeup (how did people in the 70’s overcome that barrier?), which isn’t very attractive, I think I’m in love. River Island, you’re a gem!

I also managed to bag this denim skirt in the sale too which was an absolute bargain at £20, the quality is lush, and the bright blue denim is such an eye catcher, making you feel like a rainbow in these dull days which makes your Monday’s 100% better. You may have noticed that this beauty has pockets. YES, POCKETS! It’s a dream come true, and they are so deep, so my phone is secure. It’s a miracle. How could you not love it?

70’s Skater

Skater skirts too girly? Tone it down with black velvet and bring out your dark side. You can team with any tee or knitwear and go all casual with converse. I managed to get this skirt in Topshop for £7. (I promise I’m telling the truth, it was a shocker to me too!) Not only does the fabric feel divine, but the elasticated waistband means that it sits perfectly on my waist and is ever-so-comfortable. The length is neither too long nor too short and it looks perfect with Chelsea boots, so you can even tackle the wintery weather with style.

Noughties-cool

Tartan? Check. A-line? Check. A buttoned front? Triple check. I’m absolutely in love with this subtle tartan skirt with a hint of red. Everyone needs a tartan fix, right? Not only does it have belt loops to snazz it up a little but it also has the most flexible, comfy fabric and biggest pockets that you’ll be able to wear it for hours without dying to get your dressing gown on! Unfortunately this little piece isn’t available at Dorothy Perkins anymore, however, they have loads of adorable skirts in the same style. I team it up with my ribbed black bardot to give it an elegant look and it looks gorgeous with dolly shoes or your favourite chunky boots. Practical yet trendy.

Lift the mood this January with some retail therapy. What’s your favourite A-line?

Love,
Hope x
